LLumar window tinting in the UAE

LLumar is the automotive film brand of Eastman Performance Films, LLC, and the LLumar name is a trademark of Eastman Chemical Company or its subsidiaries. Like 3M, LLumar covers both sides of the job: window tint applied inside the glass, and paint protection film applied over the paint. Unlike most rivals, it publishes a proper performance data sheet with figures for every shade of every automotive tint series, which makes it one of the easier brands to check a quote against.

One naming point matters before you shop. FormulaOne is LLumar's premium tint line — Stratos, Pinnacle, Comfort and Classic — and LLumar states it is available exclusively through its LLumar SelectPro dealer network in North America. In this region you should expect the core LLumar series names instead: ATC, ATR, CTX, IRX and AIR. LLumar sells worldwide through country-specific dealers and distributors, and notes that product availability varies by region.

LLumar splits its tint into four constructions: ceramic, metallised, dyed and clear. Ceramic is the top of the range, with IRX above CTX. The table below takes the mid shade of each series from LLumar's own published data so the comparison is like for like.

Look at the IRX 35 row again: 60% under IRER and 87% under SIRR. Same film, same shade, two very different headline numbers, and LLumar's own footnotes explain why. It defines IRER as the more complete measure of heat from solar infrared across 780 to 2,500 nm, including energy the film absorbs and then re-radiates. SIRR measures infrared not directly transmitted through the glass.

In Gulf heat the re-radiated portion is exactly what you feel, so IRER is the honest comfort figure and SIRR is the flattering one. If a quote leads with a number in the high eighties or nineties, ask which measurement it is. LLumar also warns that its figures are taken on clear glass, while most cars leave the factory with tinted or green glass, so treat the sheet as a comparison tool between films rather than a prediction of your car.

LLumar's PPF ladder is unusually clear, because the warranty length tracks the tier. Every film in the range is self-healing, using heat from the sun or the engine to lift out surface scratches.

On tint, LLumar states that all its window film products carry a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty, and that FormulaOne products carry its best lifetime transferable coverage. It also sets out what a claim looks like in practice: if covered discoloration occurs, the film is removed, replaced and reinstalled at no additional cost. That reinstallation cover is the part worth having, because labour is usually the larger half of a tint job.

On PPF the term depends on the tier — five years at entry level, ten across the Platinum films and Select Black, twelve on Valor. LLumar does not publish the exclusions anywhere on its consumer pages; every warranty statement carries a footnote that certain restrictions apply and to see the dealer for details. So the document that actually governs your claim is one you have to ask for. Get it before you pay, check whose name it is in, and check whether it survives a sale of the car.

LLumar sells through its dealer and distributor network rather than direct, and points buyers to a dealer locator. Since availability genuinely varies by region, the first question is simply which series the shop actually stocks — a claim of FormulaOne outside North America deserves a second look, given LLumar states that line is exclusive to SelectPro dealers there.

Ask for the specific product and shade in writing: 'LLumar ceramic' is a category covering both CTX and IRX, and the data sheet shows a real gap between them. Then check the paperwork against LLumar's own published figures rather than against a poster on the wall. LLumar also says its tint needs no special cleaning products — normal glass cleaning with non-abrasive cloths — so a shop insisting on a paid maintenance product is selling you something the manufacturer does not require.
