Two things set the price of PPF in Dubai: how much of the car you cover, and which film goes on it. A front kit covering bonnet, bumper, mirrors and headlights runs AED 3,500–6,000. Full body runs AED 6,900–15,500 in standard film and AED 16,000–22,000 in premium 10-year film such as XPEL Ultimate Plus, STEK DYNOshield or SunTek Reaction. Matte and coloured film sits at the top of the range.

Vehicle size moves the number as much as film grade, because surface area drives both film use and labour hours. The premium film that costs AED 13,000–18,000 on a C-Class costs AED 17,000–22,000 on a Land Cruiser or G-Wagon, and AED 20,000–28,000+ on a supercar. If a Dubai quote sits far outside these bands, ask what changed.

The floor is real. A genuine roll of premium TPU costs a shop roughly AED 5,000–7,000 wholesale before anyone touches the car, and an honest full-body install breaks even around AED 6,800–11,100 once one to three days of skilled labour and overheads are counted. That is why certified installers rarely quote full-body clear PPF on a sedan below about AED 6,500. A AED 2,500 'full body' is not a bargain; it is a different product wearing the same words.

A front kit is the default first purchase in Dubai. Chips arrive on the leading edges, and a car doing Sheikh Zayed Road or Emirates Road daily collects them on the bonnet, bumper and mirror caps long before anything happens to the doors. At AED 3,500–6,000 it protects the panels a body shop charges most to blend.

A track pack extends that logic outward, adding the A-pillars, the leading edge of the roof and the rocker panels below the doors, which is where sand thrown up by the car in front lands on desert-road runs to Al Qudra or Hatta. At AED 5,000–9,000 by film tier, it suits anyone who leaves the tarmac occasionally.

Full body is a resale decision as much as a protection one. It covers every painted panel with edges wrapped rather than cut at the panel line, and it earns its price on dark paint that shows every swirl and on cars kept beyond three years. The premium tier buys the 10-year registered warranty and faster self-healing, not extra coverage.

Most PPF sold in Dubai is clear gloss film. It disappears into the paint, keeps the colour you bought, and on premium lines adds a hydrophobic top layer that makes the car easier to rinse clean.

Matte PPF is the interesting one, and the cheapest way to get a satin car in Dubai without touching the paint. It converts gloss paint to a factory-matte finish, protects it from chips and sand at the same time, and peels off years later to reveal untouched gloss underneath. That reversibility is what separates it from a matte respray. XPEL Stealth is the benchmark satin, STEK DYNOmatt runs a silkier sheen, and SunTek matte is the value pick in the same TPU tier. Coloured and fashion films do both jobs at once, a new colour plus real chip protection, at the highest price here. STEK's range is the deepest for piano black, carbon and smoke effects. One point to settle before booking: clear and gloss film keeps your registered colour, while a film that visibly changes it is treated like a colour-change wrap. The differences that matter are self-healing speed, whether the hydrophobic top coat is included or an upgrade, whether the warranty transfers when you sell, and how much the badge adds to the quote.

These three get quoted interchangeably in Dubai showrooms and they are not interchangeable at all. PPF is a physical film that takes the hit. A ceramic coating is a chemical layer measured in microns that changes how the surface behaves but stops nothing. A vinyl wrap is decorative film about 3–4 mil thick that changes the look.

The most common mistake is buying a ceramic coating expecting chip protection; the second is buying PPF expecting it to solve water spotting. Dubai is close to the worst environment on earth for paint film. Summer air hits 45°C, dark panels reach 80–95°C in direct sun, humidity swings to 90%, and the sand carried across the city is silica at Mohs hardness 7, harder than glass and far harder than clear coat. A film specification written for a temperate market means very little here.

Every PPF shop in Dubai advertises a 10-year warranty, and two different things hide behind that phrase. A manufacturer warranty is registered with the film maker in your name, against the install date and the roll's batch code, and it survives the shop closing or disputing your claim. A shop warranty is a promise from people who may not be at that address in year four.

A real warranty covers the film failing as a material: yellowing, hazing, cracking, adhesive staining, delamination and bubbling. It does not cover stone chips and scratches in the film, because absorbing those is the product working. Registered cover usually transfers to the next owner. Premium films carry 10-year registered warranties; entry genuine films carry 5 years, which is where certified full-body work in Dubai typically starts.

Aftercare is where owners quietly void things. Hand-wash with pH-neutral shampoo, keep a pressure lance away from point-blank range on the edges, and skip brush washes, which install exactly the marks the film was bought to prevent. Counterfeit and grey-market film is a live problem in Dubai, and it looks identical to the real thing on collection day. The difference shows at month six, by which point it is bonded to your paint. The strongest signal is price: a full-body premium-brand quote under about AED 6,500 on a sedan means fake or grey stock, no registered warranty, or a rushed install.

Five checks settle it before you pay. Ask them to register the manufacturer warranty in your name and show the confirmation before the balance is due, because counterfeit rolls cannot be registered. Ask to see the roll rather than a sample card, and look for the brand watermark on the backing liner. Ask for the batch code that goes on the registration. Confirm patterns are pre-cut for your model rather than trimmed freehand on the car, which is how razor scores end up in the clear coat. Confirm edges will be wrapped, not cut at the panel line.

After collection the tells are physical. Run a finger along the bonnet edge and the door shuts: film cut on the surface leaves a hard line that catches dirt within weeks, while wrapped edges feel continuous. Check bumper corners for silvering or lifting, check headlight edges where cheap film peels first, and view the film in sun for orange-peel texture or haze. If you suspect your film, do not panic-peel it: have a certified studio test a hidden edge, because removed properly with heat most paint survives, and removed badly it does not.

A certified, factory-trained installer registers the warranty (typically 5–10 years) and uses computer-cut patterns for your exact model. That certification is a real, verifiable mark — not just a sticker on the wall.

In the UAE the phrase 'PPF coating' is everywhere, but PPF is a film, not a coating: a physical urethane layer around 150–200 microns thick that absorbs stone chips and scratches. A ceramic coating is a liquid measured in microns that adds gloss and chemical/UV protection but stops no impacts. If a shop quotes a 'PPF coating' at ceramic-coating money, you're being quoted a ceramic coating.

The strongest combination is both: PPF on the high-impact panels (or the whole car), then a ceramic coating applied over the film for extra gloss, easier washing and hard-water-spot resistance. Most premium studios in Dubai offer exactly this package.
