Range Rover PPF in Dubai: prices, coverage and resale logic

Range Rovers dominate Dubai's luxury SUV market, and almost everything that makes the current car look expensive also makes it fragile: deep dark metallics that show every white chip point, a full-width gloss-black panel across the rear, flush handles that deploy out of the paint, and air suspension that keeps changing which edges are exposed. Here is what filming a Range Rover costs in Dubai, the panels owners wish they had covered, and the resale case on a vehicle where condition is the whole conversation.

Key facts

  • Full-body PPF on a Range Rover runs AED 9,500–12,500 in standard film and AED 17,000–22,000 in premium 10-year film in Dubai.
  • Dark metallics such as Santorini Black — the default UAE specification — show chips as bright white points, which is the peppered-bonnet look that ruins presentation at resale.
  • The gloss-black pillars, mirror caps and rear panel scratch even from careful washing; a trim film package runs AED 800–2,000 and most shops never offer it unprompted.
  • Flush deployable door handles trap grit in the recess and drag it across paint on every use — the handle pockets are the cheapest high-value film on the car.
  • Air-suspension height changes expose lower-panel edges, so wrapped edges matter more on a Range Rover than on most SUVs.
  • A Velar or Evoque falls in the mid-SUV band at AED 8,000–11,000 in standard film and AED 15,000–19,000 in premium.
  • A registered, transferable film warranty is a resale asset in a market where a large share of examples have been resprayed.

Range Rover PPF prices in Dubai

A full-size Range Rover carries big-SUV surface area with complex lower cladding, and the Sport runs slightly under it. The smaller cars in the family price in the mid-SUV band instead. Expect one to three days of skilled labour on a full-body job, which is most of what you are paying for once the film cost is stripped out.

The gloss-black trim package is worth pricing separately when you collect quotes, because it is rarely included and it protects the panels that degrade fastest. At AED 800–2,000 for pillars, spoiler and mirrors it is the highest value-per-dirham film on the car.

The panels a Range Rover owner regrets not filming

The full-width gloss-black rear panel is first on the list. On the current car the tail lights sit hidden behind it until lit, which means a single wide piano-black surface at exactly the height where people lean, load and wipe. It swirls from one careless microfibre pass, and unlike paint you cannot keep polishing it back — every correction takes material off a thin decorative layer. It is the panel that makes a five-year-old car look tired even when the paint is fine.

The door handles come second. They deploy out of the door skin, so there is a recess collecting sand between washes and a mechanism dragging that sand back across the paint each time the handle retracts. Add fingernails and rings from four doors a day and you get a scuffed halo around each handle within a couple of years. Film the pockets.

Then the bonnet and grille surround. The bonnet is long and flat and the grille is close to vertical, so highway debris arrives square rather than glancing off a raked nose. Below that, the sills take shoe scuff every time someone climbs in — and in access mode the car drops, so those edges present themselves to the kerb. Finally the tailgate load lip, which is the surface every suitcase and every set of golf clubs slides across.

Sand, sprinklers and how Dubai actually wears this car

Two things do the damage here and neither is UV. The first is abrasion: the sand carried across the city is silica at Mohs hardness 7, harder than glass and far harder than clear coat, so a run out to Al Qudra or Lahbab works on the lower body like slow sandpaper. That is what a urethane layer exists to absorb, and it is why the rockers, lower doors and arch lips matter as much as the bonnet on a car used the way Range Rovers are used here.

The second is water. Sprinkler overspray on villa driveways dries into mineral spots that etch, and dust cements onto an unwashed car after a humid night. Film alone does not solve that — choose a film with a hydrophobic top layer, or have a ceramic coating applied over it. Panel temperatures of 80–95°C in summer are on your side with genuine film, because self-healing top coats are heat-activated. They are the enemy of cheap film, whose adhesive lifts on the thermal cycle and whose surface yellows by the second summer. Genuine aliphatic TPU is what survives it.

The resale argument, stated honestly

This is the real reason full body sells on this car. A Range Rover with documented film and a registered manufacturer warranty presents as a car that was looked after, and in a market with plenty of resprayed examples, provable original paint under film is a genuine price lever. Keep the certificate with the service history — inspectors increasingly ask for it.

Transferability is where owners get caught, so check it before choosing the film. XPEL Ultimate Plus transfers to a new owner with proof of the original installation date. STEK's paint film warranty is non-transferable unless the buyer submits that proof within thirty days of the ownership change. SunTek Reaction's twelve years, the longest term on paper here, does not transfer at all and ends the day you sell.

The other resale trap is cheap film, which reads worse than no film. A certified installer rarely quotes full-body clear film on a sedan below about AED 6,500, and a genuine roll of premium TPU costs the shop roughly AED 5,000–7,000 wholesale before anyone touches the car — so a bargain full-body price on a vehicle this size is telling you something. Yellowed, lifting film on a three-year-old Range Rover is a conversation you will have with every buyer.

Booking it in Dubai

Ask four questions. Is the pattern pre-cut for this exact model and year, or trimmed freehand on the car. Are edges wrapped or cut at the panel line. Is the gloss-black trim included or extra. And will the manufacturer warranty be registered in your name, with the roll batch code, before you pay the balance. The paint protection film in Dubai hub lists 86 installers in the emirate, 54 of them in Al Quoz with the second cluster around Dubai Investment Park, so there is no reason to accept vague answers.

If the car is going in for glass at the same time, the tint rules are fixed. Dubai allows a maximum 50% tint on side and rear glass, meaning glass and film together must transmit at least 50% of light. The windscreen stays clear apart from a narrow sun strip along the top. Breaching it carries an AED 1,500 fine plus mandatory removal, and it is checked at RTA vehicle testing. Limits vary by emirate, so confirm for wherever the car is registered.

FAQs

How much is PPF for a Range Rover in Dubai?
Full body runs AED 9,500–12,500 in standard film and AED 17,000–22,000 in premium 10-year film. A front kit is AED 4,500–8,000, and the gloss-black trim package adds AED 800–2,000.
Should I film the gloss-black trim?
Yes, and start with the full-width rear panel. Piano black swirls faster than paint, sits at leaning and loading height, and can only be corrected so many times before you are through the layer.
Do the flush door handles cause a problem for PPF?
They create the problem film solves. The recess collects sand and the mechanism drags it across the paint on every cycle, on top of fingernail and ring marks. A good shop films the handle pockets; most will not mention them unless you ask.
Is a Velar, Evoque or Range Rover Sport cheaper to film?
Yes. The Sport sits just under the full-size car at AED 9,000–11,500 in standard film, and a Velar or Evoque falls in the mid-SUV band at AED 8,000–11,000 standard and AED 15,000–19,000 premium.
Does PPF help Range Rover resale value?
Meaningfully. Buyers in this segment scrutinise paint condition, and film with a registered transferable warranty proves original, protected paint in a market full of resprays.
Is film worth it if I take the car into the dunes?
That is the strongest case for it. Desert sand is silica at Mohs hardness 7, harder than clear coat, and it works on the lower doors, rockers and arch lips constantly. Prioritise wrapped edges, because that is where sand and heat attack first.
Can I film only the gloss-black trim?
Yes. The trim package covering pillars, spoiler and mirrors runs AED 800–2,000 on its own and protects the panels that degrade fastest. It is the highest-value partial film on the car.
Does the film warranty transfer to the next owner?
It depends on the film. XPEL transfers with proof of the original installation date. STEK's transfers only if the buyer files that proof within thirty days of the ownership change. SunTek Reaction's twelve-year cover does not transfer.
How long does Range Rover PPF last in the UAE?
Premium aliphatic TPU carries a 10-year registered warranty and realistically outlasts a typical UAE ownership cycle. Wrapped edges matter most here, because air-suspension travel keeps exposing the lower panel lines.
