Ceramic Pro is a package ladder, not a product

Ceramic Pro is made by Nanoshine Group Corp., headquartered in Taipei and founded in 2010, selling through distributors in over 80 countries with more than 5,000 approved installers worldwide. Its properties are certified by SGS Laboratories and its environmental safety to the REACH standard. Crucially, it is not one product but a family sold as packages — which is why people search for 'Ceramic Pro Gold' rather than for a chemical.

The classic tiers are built from Ceramic Pro 9H on the paint, and more layers means a longer warranty. Gold is multiple layers of 9H warranted for the lifetime of the vehicle from the date of application; Silver is a single layer of 9H at five years; Bronze a layer of Ceramic Pro Top Coat at two years. All three require annual inspections. The newer ION line works differently: a two-component system where an ION Base Coat provides thickness and the ION Top Coat triggers the ion-exchange reaction that delivers the hydrophobic behaviour. Ceramic Pro is explicit that the base coat performs significantly worse without the top coat, so a part-applied ION job is not ION.

Gtechniq is a product ladder, and only one rung is restricted

Gtechniq's automotive range splits in two: coatings you can buy and apply at home, and one you cannot buy at all. Crystal Serum Ultra is a composite coating — a hard 10h top layer over a softer 7h base, built with 7nm and 20nm nanoparticles — and it is sold to Accredited Detailers only. The brand's own FAQ gives the reason bluntly: an incorrectly applied coat has to be wet sanded off with 1200 grit paper, so a botched DIY attempt costs you paintwork, not just product.

The rest is more forgiving. Gtechniq describes Crystal Serum Light as offering 80% of Ultra's performance while remaining removable by machine polish if the application goes wrong, which is why it is sold openly; it is rated up to five years when an Accredited Detailer applies it. C1 Crystal Lacquer carries a five-year guarantee on the same terms, and EXOv5 is an 18–24 month hydrophobic topcoat rather than a coating in its own right. So when a Dubai quote says 'Gtechniq', ask which of the three coatings it is — they carry three different guarantee lengths.

Warranty or relationship? The real question

Ceramic Pro's lifetime cover is genuine, and it is also a maintenance subscription. The inspection must happen at an approved applicator within 30 days before the anniversary of the last service, a fee applies, and at AED 550–1,100 a year that is AED 5,500–11,000 across a decade — often more than the AED 7,000+ package itself. Miss one and Gold converts to a five-year warranty running from the date of that last inspection. If you are the owner who books an annual detail anyway, that is money you were spending regardless, and the Dubai network makes it a strong system.

Gtechniq's nine-year guarantee asks only that you wash the car properly and return to the detailer who applied it once a year. The inspection is free, but it is not a valet — the car has to arrive reasonably clean, and no inspection means no guarantee. The trade-off is network size: a far smaller pool of accredited shops, so a claim or a re-application means going back to a specific one. One ownership nuance worth knowing before you sign: the Gtechniq guarantee is with you rather than with the vehicle and ends when you sell it, while Ceramic Pro's is transferable once.

What both guarantees exclude

Neither is paint insurance, and this is where owners are most often disappointed. Ceramic Pro's own warranty excludes swirl marks, marring, scratches, scuffs, scrapes, chips and hard water spots, plus damage from impact with a foreign object such as a stone. Damage caused by wash brushes or abrasive cloths is excluded too — Ceramic Pro says to avoid automatic washes using brushes or mitts, accepts touchless washing, and still recommends a two-bucket hand wash at least every 60 days.

Gtechniq's cover is narrower than most people expect: staining or discolouration of the coating itself, which it repairs or re-applies at no charge. Excluded are collision damage, scratches, vandalism, stone chips, rust, matte and satin finishes, defective application, and any case where another product has been coated over the Gtechniq layer. It also voids once two claims have been made. Read those two lists together and the conclusion is the same for both brands: if chips are the worry, the answer is paint protection film in Dubai, not a thicker coating.

Getting a genuine install in Dubai

For Ceramic Pro, the initial application must be by a certified installer for any warranty to exist, and an uncertified shop using genuine product still leaves you with nothing. Register the warranty, because the term runs from registration rather than application; claims need the full 17-digit VIN plus photo or video evidence, and Ceramic Pro must be notified within 30 days of the problem. Vehicles over three months old normally require a machine polish by the approved applicator before coating, so a same-day job on an older car is a warning sign. One regional caveat: the warranty document Ceramic Pro publishes is its Americas version, and it requires the vehicle to remain continuously registered in North America.
